Three days ago, my Thunderbird stopped connecting to my me.com email account.
The error message says the password is invalid. To double check this, I logged into my webmail on both a Mac (using Safari) and PC (using Firefox). Both computers were able to connect using the password. I have updated Thunderbird. I deleted the email account and reinstalled it. I have the email account on 3 devices: iPhone, MacBook Air and PC. The email account on iPhone is working normally without any password problems. The PC and MacBook Air, both using Thunderbird, claim the password is wrong. I installed the email on Mac Mail and it works perfectly using the password. Thunderbird is the only program that returns a password error. Any advice?

As of June 15 Apple requires 2 factor authentication. In order to use a 3rd party client like Thunderbird you have to generate an app specific password and use that instead of your normal password.

Thank you. This worked, however, it was so confusing that I had to call Applecare to have them walk me through the process. I had to fix Thunderbird on two separate computers.
