Rightclicked on a map on the bookmark toolbar and opted change by name. Don't know how to make this undone. Preferred the last added sorting!

Changed the sorting of a huge list of bookmarks stored in a map on the BOOKMARK TOOLBAR to be sorted by name instead of last added. It changed indeed and now I'm stuck with it. Rightclicking on these maps only reveals one sorting command (sort by name) I can change the sorting in the the bookmark sidebar/libary area but that's not what I'm after. Just want the content back as it was. sorted default .

image: The same menu appears when rightclicking on a map on the bookmark.

If you haven't closed and restarted Firefox yet then try to use "Organize -> Undo" to undo this action. Otherwise you can restore a compressed bookmarks baxckup.

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore

Note that this will replace all current bookmarks, so consider to created an HTML or JSON backup if you already have added new bookmarks.

Thank you for the reply

Wasn't aware there was an undelete option. Unfortunately I already had closed firefox in the hope the default order would restore. Nope :)

The bookmark backup was no option either because bookmarks had been added later.

Although firefox is my favorite browser, the lack of sorting options in the menu on the bookmark toolbar is a minus. Don't see the logic in just one sorting command that cannot be undone.

Anyway thx for the helpful information. Will come in handy for future events :)

There is only a sort option for folders. If you want to sort individual bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar then you need to use the sidebar or the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to be able to right-click the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.
