Please turn off your Caps Lock. In text talk, this is shouting.
. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;
DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS
While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Anytime you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org {web link}
You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery
Help us safeguard Mozilla’s trademarks by reporting misuse {web link}
For almost a year, an epidemic of Fake Update Notices have been popping up all over the place. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-i-found-fake-firefox-update
You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
Is this question regarding Firefox updates and fake Firefox "security patches"?
A Firefox update gets automatically installed upon restarting Firefox; so it's not really a "download" that could be "saved".

What do you mean by you "RECEIVE" an update or security patch? There are unfortunately a lot of fraudulent sites distributing dangerous fake updates and security patches. Many show official logos with no authorization. You need to be very cautious about downloading or trying to open those.
If your security software is whisking them away to the trash -- a potential explanation for a file suddenly vanishing in mid-download -- let's tip our hat to the software and hope it is making the correct judgment. If you want to check on whether a particular download is real, could you try this:
- Open your Firefox Download history using Ctrl+J
- right-click a failed download and try "Copy Download Link"
- Paste the link into a reply and we'll let you know what we think
It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
