I'm using a Dell M6500 laptop. I did a fresh install of Firefox Quantum and the touchpad stops working. This laptop also has a "mouse stick" like IBM's "Trackpoint" mouse. Oddly enough, that continues to work. The only way to get the touchpad working is to reboot the laptop. This problem also happens on older versions of Firefox. There seems to be some sort of conflict between Firefox and the touchpad driver. Any idea what could be causing this?

Some computers have an option where if there is a mouse detected, the pad is disabled. Check the mouse software options. Also, check for updates to the mouse.

I checked the settings and it seems to be set up properly. I'm running the latest drivers.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

How long before the problem shows up?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
