firefox update has messed up my computer settings, how can I get it back like it was last week?
My email addresses have had to be re-logged into, my default search engine is AVG and no longer Google and has become more complicated to use. Once before an update messed up my email settings and it takes me some time to sort things out. I liked it as it was and want it back. I am old and it is difficult for old people to learn new things. If you want to change things then do so but offer us the option to stay as we are!

Thanks for answering, unfortunately I have understood hardly any of that. I right clicked the shortcut and looked at properties but none of the figures you quoted came up. If I download and install what you suggest would that automatically get me back where I was. "and just because:" what does that mean? "Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018." what does that mean? I would not know how to do any of that. If I can't get this sorted, when I find out how to make Firefox let go of stuff, I shall probably go to Google Chrome.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
