cannot cut and paste into firefox from word or any other document. I am using windows 10

I can cut and paste from any type of document into windows explorer but it just will not work in Firefox. I have even tried uninstalling firefox then downloading a new update but the problem still exists. This was never a problem in my old laptop that had windows 7 but since getting a new laptop with windows 10 the problem has occured. This happens on every site that I would use. Strangely I have tried to cut and paste into this window and it works perfectly - example "Mary had a little lamb" so why can I not do this on other sites?

This site uses really basic form controls. Many sites use fancier "what you see is what you get" editors, sometimes called rich text editors. Is that where you have the problem?

Are you using the standard Windows methods?

  • Ctrl+v
  • right-click > Paste
  • Shift+Insert

Do you recall changing any clipboard-related settings? For example:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste CLIPB and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled preference is bolded and "modified" or "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true

If you changed that, does it make any difference?

Do you have any add-ons that might raise security on framed pages? Usually rich text editors are implemented using a framed page.
