Can I use 'settings' to temporarily shut off 'copy to sent'?

This should be a no-brainer, but those are the kind I always like to check on. I use mailmerge to send mass emailings to a list of addresses that's over 150 long. That results in over 150 copies of the email being sent to my 'sent mail' folder. If before I go to my 'local folders-->Outbox' and click on 'send unsent', I go to my account settings and uncheck 'copies and folders-->place a copy in:", and then after the 150 emails are sent I re-check it, does that stop the 150 emails from going to 'sent' without affecting any other sent mail?

Thanks...

Go to Tools...Account Settings and find the email account you are using to send the messages. In the Copies and Folders settings uncheck the box next to Place a Copy In
