Hello, I am using Thunderbird with a network profile folder. There are two computers on the same network. Computer 1 has the profile. Computer 2 I have specified the profile file via the network to computer 1.

Computer 1 is working fine. However when I launch Thunderbird on Computer 2 and it starts to check mail I get "An error occurred with the pop 3 mail server. Mail server ****.com responded:" Everything else works fine on computer 2. I can send and receive individually. Its just when I try to get all messages i get this error. And again I don't get this error on computer 1.

Thank you for your help.

In case anybody else is having the same issue. From AVG Menu->Settings->Troubleshooting->Uncheck "Enable AVG Self Protection" then edit C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\EmailShield.ini file. Just add the information below to the file and save it: [EmailScanner] MaxConnections=100

Default is 50 you can make it whatever you like. Go back into AVG and recheck "Enable AVG Self Protection" and reboot your computer.

please post error messages verbatim? I have no interest in playing 20 questions to ascertain you are using outlook.com and are trying to get mail in times of less than 15 minutes and they are refusing connection.

I would guess it is related to how frequently messages are retrieved from a particular server, but you have redacted both the server name and the complete error message. So all that can be done is guess.

Hello, I was able to figure out the problem. AVG has a maxconnections setting. I have many accounts on TB and when they were all trying to check mail at once AVG was blocking the connections. Now I just need to figure out how to edit the AVG ini file since when I do I get access denied. Thank you for your help.

I must ask. Why are you using an email scanner at all? They do nothing and as you have found are quite disruptive.

Thunderbird has an option to allow the anti virus to scan all new incoming mail by placing it in the temp folder. My suggestion is enable the option and loose the AVG junkware. I used to use it about 10-15 years ago, after I used Nortons offering about the time the millennium changed. My decision to dump both was based on system slowdowns and the annoyance factor. Norton's just would not stop with the alerts and it's utterly destructive "repairs" took more time to fix than the virus they supposedly stopped would have. AVG just insisted you turn everything on or it drove you mad with alerts. I am entirely over fearware.

It was turned on by default. I will consider your suggestion. Thank you.
