How do I get all previous calendar entries included into updated Thunderbird?
After I executed the updated Thunderbird, the calendar was blank, neither showing all past entries nor the entries I had made for future appointments, etc. I also had trouble seeing saved emails. It was as if I had a new and never used Thunderbird. Was forced to run a restore to get back to the previous version. Did not see anything worthwhile in the updated Thunderbird.

While I appreciate receiving "directions" to recover all my calendar entries into the "upgraded" Thunderbird, they didn't work. After the step to remove Lightening followed by "Restart", I ended up with no calendar at all! So again, I had to run 'Restore' again to recover what I had before and neither I nor my computer were happy with that step but I'm back to square 1. At this point, I cannot understand how the latest version of Thunderbird can be considered an upgrade when a critical piece (calendar) is not a seamless addition. If/when the next version fixes that fundamental flaw, I'll look forward to that but for now, I'm done. Sorry.

In your OP you stated: "It was as if I had a new and never used Thunderbird."
Based on that information you've been given instructions to recover a lost profile.

I don't know what you did, and why, and which instructions you followed.

It usually is, but for a small no. of users there apparently are problems with the calendar when updating. See https://support.mozilla.org/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird
I followed the instructions exactly as given and ended up with no calendar at all as previously noted. My PC is not happy with my use of 'Restore' but it does get me back to the previous version of Thunderbird with the calendar intact. I will therefore wait for the next Thunderbird update which hopefully will include a calendar that retains previous entries. Thanks for trying to help.
