I am new using android. Tabs have a field above the URL showing the title of the page. I seem to remember, these were not there days ago. The manual talks about Compact Tabs under settings > general but I do not find that switch. And my tabs are framed blue and not orange. What am I missing? I would dearly like to get rid of the extra field above the URL because it is a waste of precious space on handheld devices ... Many thanks in advance. PS: Firefox on Nokia 8 running Android 9.

The tablet experience applies to devices with a screen size above 7" (or above 480dpi). You can use Android's developer options to specify a custom value, like 479dpi.

Thanks for the reply! The size of the display is 5.3". But nevertheless the resolution too fine? ... Did not spot Android's developer options either, so I must be new to android, indeed. But your hint did help! I remembered changing Display -> Advanced -> Display Size to "small" and reverting that to default and starting firefox anew showed that this triggers the additional "feature" above the tabs.

my 2c to developers: Maybe change the criterion on this extra line above tabs not on resolution but indeed on screen size?

So again: Thanks indeed for the helpful answer!
