In the Library window (show all bookmarks/history), pressing Delete deletes any highlighted item, but Shift+Delete grays the item out without deleting it.

I was wondering too, until i checked for it, and it seems that it is similar to CUT function, i was able to paste it to another bookmarks Folder

Ah, that does seem to be its function!

Still though, it is a mystery why the shortcut's visual effect works on other items in the Library that cannot be cut-and-pasted (e.g. history items, categories like 'Downloads', 'Tags', or 'All Bookmarks')
