message content not displayed
Starting with 68.4.2 I've been seeing this weird behavior for received messages. For some messages the content is not displayed when I try to read the message - the reading pane body portion is blank. If I "Reply To Sender" then the message content appears so obviously it's not a case of Thunderbird not being able to interpret the message. Also if I save the message as an eml it saves correctly. So why can't Thunderbird display it on reading, but it display ok on "Reply To Sender"? My font settings are attached.

Right-click the folder, Properties, click Repair Folder. Any difference?
It turned out to be a problem with the foreground/background colors. The override setting needed to be "Always" rather than "Only with High Contrast Themes". I don't know why the installation of 68.4.2 resulted in the wrong setting, but changing this setting to "Always" has remedied the problem. I would think that Thunderbird has the smarts to use a reasonable default, but that doesn't seem to be the case for this particular setting.
There will always be a clown that sets their font to white and assumes that everyone else uses a black background in email.
I tried setting the foreground/background colors override setting to 'Always' with no effect. With me the preview shows the message correctly but when I double click on the message to open it up the message tab is blank (entirely in the background color).
I tried disabling add ins one by one. 'Thunderbird Conversations' is causing the problem. If I disable it Thunderbird displays message content as expected.
I have the same problem, but it seems to affect some of my messages in imported mail boxes from Eudora. Again, only some of the messages are not showing up their contents at all, blank. The headings From, Subject, To are still there, but nothing in the body when I opened the messages.
It wasn't the issue of background colour in my case. I checked.
I am a new user of TB and installed the latest version 68.10.0 64-bit.

I see your issue is responded https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1293802 and it had nothing to do with this thread. That is why we discourage posting me too type posts on other folks threads. It just muddies the waters.
I have (suddenly today after years of use) the same problem as nbi.vegas, but not solved by editing Colors, or by repairing folders, or by disabling add-ins (of which I have none). I can see message content by trying to reply or forward the messages or by using print preview. It affects all messages in all folders (Inbox, Sent, Bulk Mail, Trash) including Thunderbird local folders on my hard drive where I archive e-mails. So, it seems to be some display issue. I am using version 78.0 (32-bit) on Windows 10 (64-bit).
Hi, I have the same issue as angelor. Editing colors, repairing folders or disabling add-ons does not solve the problem.
I can see all messages in all folders, but the contents are not visible in the preview pane nor when I open the message. It is only when I go to reply or forward the message that the contents can be seen.
I am running Thunderbird 78.0.1 on Windows 10 (64 bit).
I only started seeing this behaviour after updating some display drivers & this has only seem to have impacted Thunderbird, all other applications I have used, so far, seem fine.
Can you please advise what can be done to remedy this?
There is this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1653168
But I an going to lock this topic as it appears to have become a me too item for folks with similar and obviously not the same problem. If what worked for the original poster does not work for you, you do not have the same problem, only the same symptom.
If you have a problem and the information here does not help. Create your own topic here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird
