When I try to download a .docx file or a .zip file Firefox pops up a blank new window for a second, and then does nothing. It downloads PDF files correctly.

I've tried refreshing and reinstalling Firefox, and deleting the handlers.json in Troubleshooting Information as instructed in the troubleshooting guide on this website. All the add-ons I have installed are turned off.

Turns out I had it set to "open links in new window" so it was getting confused, it started working properly once I changed it to "open links in new tab."
