I am unable to get Thunderbird to download/access my mail.com calendar. What am I missing? I tried to download the Lightning extension add-on but it was not compatible with my version (78) of Thunderbird.

Lightning is built into TB 78, so there's no need to install an add-on. How did you add the calendar? Try File/New/Calendar..., Network, CalDAV, and enter https://caldav.mail.com/ as the address.
