Google is my default search engine, and my home page always shows the Google search bar. Now that Firefox 89 has been installed, I can't use the Google search bar. When I start to enter a search string in the Google search bar, Firefox switches me to the Firefox address bar, which is annoying. I want to use the address bar for URLs, not searches. How do I disable the address bar for searches?

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
