I found my problem with the latest version and some web sites. In the 'Privacy+Security' settings, if you select 'Always use private browsing mode' , all addresses will be forced to the https mode regardless of any of your other settings. This will prevent you from accessing some sites. You can turn on use https in private mode when you want it. C.G.B.

I don't see that option. Could you include a screenshot? I just use the extension which checks if https is available ( a d d o n s . m o z i l l a . o r g / e n - U S / f i r e f o x / a d d o n / h t t p s - e v e r y w h e r e / )

I think that if you enable HTTPS-Only in PB mode you will be able to create a temporary OFF exception to be able to access website that only work with HTTP (Firefox creates it automatically if you create the exception in normal mode).
