I accidentally deleted a gmail account from my Thunderbird. When I try to add it back in I get an error saying TB cannot find the server information. If I add the information manually it does not connect. I can open the account in a browser or access it from Outlook.

BTW I have already tried deleting the saved password and making sure cookies are turned on.

Something on your computer (probably a software firewall with an internet security suite) is blocking Thunderbird access to the internet.

One of the first things the account wizard does in the case of google accounts is reach ouot to the internet and fetch the Google settings from the database. https://autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/gmail.com

In your case it appears to be functioning in the dark, because it can not find the settings. SO identifying whatever is blocking the communications and fixing it is the obvious answer.

Try setting up the account in Windows safe mode with networking (a wired internet connection is required) as that will eliminate the majority of account setup hurdles by not loading startup programs and the anti virus other than defender. (defender is all I use)

Matt I don’t believe that is the issue. I have other gmail accounts in TB and all of a sudden they are not finding the imap servers. Other accounts through other providers are working normally. BTW I’m on windows 11. Also all accounts work normally in Outlook.

ok you don't believe that is what is happening. What is?

I suggest you use the link to put windows 11 in the correct mode and then see if I am wrong, because seriously you are having problems and only acting on what you think is the problem is not going to be productive.

Bye now.
