I dragged a folder off my bookmark toolbar, thinking I could move it to the drop down menu list that way. However, it didn't add to the drop down menu list but it did disappear off the bookmark toolbar. Essentially this one folder of important bookmarks disappeared. Is there a way to get this back? And how DO I change a bookmark folder from toolbar to dropdown list? I usually only keep the ones I'm working with the most up on the toolbar, but sometimes will need them for later.

Dragging a bookmark to a place where it cannot be dropped should not delete the bookmark. Try using the library window to find your bookmark, and put it in the right place.

To turn the Bookmarks toolbar into a dropdown, create a folder inside your Bookmarks toolbar folder, move all the bookmarks you want into that folder, then move the Bookmarks Toolbar toolbar item wherever you want. See Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars
