The version of Xandros Linux (from early 2007) that Asus is using on the eeePC doesn't have the GTK package needed to run Firefox 3+ versions, you need to update it.

IMO, you might be better off installing a newer Linux operating system, rather than patching Xandros. I have been running Ubuntu & Firefox 3.6 on my EeePC 900 20G for a while now and found it to be faster than Xandros & Firefox 2.0.0.14, with slightly better battery life. I am getting ready to install Ubuntu 10.10, which was released a week ago.
