How can I remove Firefox sync data and account from Firefox 4 on my PC?
I installed firefox 4 today, and added my sync data account to it. Now I'm using the portable version of Firefox and don't want to use the installed version.
I saw that the sync option says: Deactivate this Device. But when I click on deactivate, it says "This will reset account information and preferences" ... what does that mean? Would it delete my sync data from the firefox server too?? Or would it just delete the bookmarks and other sync data from only the installed firefox 4?? I'm quite confused... please could someone provide info on this?? Thanks.

Hi, the Firefox 4 desktop option "Deactivate this device" will only disconnect your desktop browser from Firefox Sync. Your existing data (bookmarks, history, passwords, etc.) will remain intact, both on your desktop and also on the Firefox Sync servers.

You can delete your Synch data and account by going to this link: https://account.services.mozilla.com/.

This has clarified my concern. Just a note: Perhaps "This will reset account information and preferences" warning is not necessary, just the simple "Connect" and "Disconnect" as on the Android version of Firefox will do.

I definitely think the wording should be changed! What it says and does seem to be completely different things!
When I try to delete my account I see:
Oh dear.
Looks like one of the dinosaurs escaped again. We keep them away from the data, so that should be safe.
Please try again later when we've wrestled him back onto the treadmill.
and my account remains. Not good.
Thanks, Lottieb. All fixed.
