My back button doesn't work, even in safe mode with addons disabled and even though my bookmarks work fine.

After upgrade to v4, my back button doesn't work. I tried disabling addons and running in safe mode, and it still doesn't work. My bookmarks came through the update fine and work fine. The back and forward buttons appear, but they are greyed and don't work

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

No help. When I drop down the history, it's there and working, so I can go back using that method, but it's quite cumbersome. The bookmarks are there and working. As far as I can see, the only thing not working is the back/forward buttons. They appear, but they are greyed out and don't work. My best bet may be to give up on v4 and go back to the previous version, which worked.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
