I need to download firefox 6.0.2 when I click the download button on mozilla homepage it says the file is from a name I cannot remember now ending in edu.au and that it is a mirror. Why would it say that? Is it safe to download? Also a warning comes up after downloading it saying this is from an unknown publisher.

In the past the publisher has been mozilla corporation but now I cannot find it anywhere. Has anyone successfully downloaded this version from mozilla corp and where will I find it.

thanks Leigh

Firefox does use mirror sites, so the downloads can come from more than one site address. You will normally get an official version. I suppose there could however be something unusual, for instance you could already have a copy of Firefox that itself did not come from an official site.

I would suggest you upgrade by downloading a copy of the Firefox 6 installer from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/?from=getfirefox

You could even consider a clean re-install, but if you do that note to retain the profile folder and files, if you delete files only delete the files in the Programs folder. Should you choose to delete from Windows OS control Panel, do NOT use the option to remove settings, however that is worded, or you will loose all bookmarks passwords etc.
