Firefox 7 loops indefinitely when the URL includes an anchor link
We have a bug with the web site we are developing that only occurs with Firefox 7. Earlier versions of Firefox and all other major browsers work as expected.
We have a link to a page that includes an anchor link in the url. When I navigate to this page Firefox reloads the page in an infinite loop. If I remove the anchor link from the end of the URL, then the page works as expected.

Is there JavaScript running on that page that looks at the anchor?
A good place to ask advice about web development is at the mozillaZine Web Development/Standards Evangelism forum.
The helpers at that forum are more knowledgeable about web development issues.
You need to register at the mozillaZine forum site in order to post at that forum.
There is no JavaScript on the page that runs at startup, just on button clicks. The page also works in earlier versions of FireFox, and all versions of Chrome, Opera, and IE.
Having the exact same problem in Firefox 8. MVC2 site on IIS7, link to page with anchor tag e.g. "www.mysite.com/index.aspx#item5" resulted in infinite refresh loop.
Solved the problem, through trial and error, by removing reference to:-
<script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcValidation.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Can anyone explain why?
