I am using AOL as the browser with Firefox. I receive an e-mail that has various 'links', in blue. However, when I try to forward the e-mail, all blue links disappear and only normal script remains. The person to whom I am forwarding, therefore, only sees normal script and no 'links', in blue mickey

Thank you very much. It was not the exact answer but it got me going in the right direction. Turns out that I did not have that button bar. It sent me searching in AOL's Settings. I enabled Rich Text/HDML and the buttons appeared nad then I followed your directions and can now hyperlink. Thanks again mickey

It is possible that the links weren't clickable in the original mail and relied on automatic hyperlinking by the mail service.

Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text on the "Compose New Mail page" there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each (e.g. Insert hyperlink).
