Graphical artifacts in firefox images only

I'm having problems with images. Some images are glitching with colorful graphical artifacts. (It happens once every few hours) The image renders correctly if I right click and view the image that way.

An example: http://i.imgur.com/3cBiz.png

This just started happening a few days ago. I do hope it's an issue with a plugin or something--not my graphics card. With my luck, it's probably an issue on my end.

This only happens on firefox and I don't have any problems with graphics or images in any other program.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

Thank you so much for your response. I haven't had this issue since disabling it. I'm glad the solution was something so simple. :)

EDIT: It just happened again. http://i.imgur.com/ZMK9z.png

I'm going to see if my graphics card drivers need to be updated. Will post again if it does and if updating it has helped.

In other threads, some users have noted problems when scrolling pages that contain Flash content. Their screen shots look different than yours, but if you have noticed any relation to scrolling, perhaps those threads might be relevant? For example: HTML5 or Flash do not display correct after scrolling
