When I search in Firefox the top part of the first listed result jumps to the right. It does not do it in IE10. Is this due to Adblock?

I noticed this first in Ebay listings (using firefox) - the listing as result of a search would load then at the last moment the top listed item would jump to the right so I have to scroll across to see it. I tried changing the screen size but that did not help. I then did a search today for Currys (Currys.co.uk) and the initial part of their listing is shunted over to the right (this does not happen doing the same search with IE10). The Ebay listing 'jumping' also does not happen with IE10. Is this a firefox problem? Is it due to running Adblock which appears to prevent the advert box I see with IE10?

You might try disabling AdBlock to see whether that extension is involved in this problem. If so, you might need to make an exception or fine-tune your filters in some way. (I don't use AdBlock, so I'm not aware of how you do that.)

If that doesn't make any difference, could you post screen shots showing the problem? This article might be useful: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Hi jscher2000, I switched off adblock but it made no change. I have attached a search result image. The "Currys PC World" banner part just above the google map appears (in IE10) below the cream coloured advert box on the left - with firefox it is over at the right. Milkydrink (Dale)

I missed that this is on Google. Your Google results look quite different than mine, but this could be partially geographic. In particular, I do not have the row of tabs above the ads, and in fact on that search I do not see any ads. When I do see ads, there is a different legend than the one you see.

It's possible that these are rogue ads inserted by an extension. Could you try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

Noticing that the word SelectionLinks appears above your results, I searched around and came upon this page: Manual Removal Guide for SelectionLinks - Safer-Networking Forums.

i have the same problem and have emptied the cache but the problem persists. i have disabled my Adblock plus and the Google search is now working( albeit with the half page of ads that goes with it) but my Ebay search still has the top result sliding to the right, doubling the size of the page. the result now has an ad in its place and has the left hand side of the result on top. when i say the result slides i mean that you can watch it actually sliding! i am re-enabling the Adblock as the popups went crazy when it was off. i started the week on Firefox 14 and updated to Firefox 20 to see if that cured the problem but it was still the same. i have included two screen shots. one with Adblock and the same page without. hope someone can come up with an answer

just re-started in safe mode and disabled all addons. that worked and so re-started in full mode. i disabled Selectionlinks 1.5 and that cured it. it now seems to be fine and Adblock is on. hope this helps someone else.
