Websites may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

This didn't help. None of that worked.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

The very last sub-topic on the same support page that's been posted here already, http://mzl.la/L2ouzT (scroll down) is one which I suspect more than a few people run into this problem with-- not because they've chosen private browsing mode but because they've taken advantage of the new option with 22.0, "New Private Window", which is another whole privacy function altogether. This also prevents the browser from remembering new pwrds, for security reasons that benefit everyone. So just be sure you've opened up a regular, ordinary window for the login or registration page of the site you need access to, instead of a "private browsing window, and hopefully anyone reading this will see the issue vanish. If not, take a close look at the other responses on this thread.
