I dont know how to resize the window smaller, all it does is make the print of the page smaller, on the page, not the whole outline of the page so I can move the symbol over to put it on the desktop! I used the resize page in menu, is there another way to do it?? Thanks

Can you see the 3 buttons on the upper right of the window frame: minimize (_), maximize/restore, close (X)? If those buttons are not visible, Firefox might be in its "full screen" mode. The F11 key switches between regular and full screen views.

When you use the middle button on the titlebar that switches between maximized and resizable, is the lower right corner of the Firefox window visible? If so, you should be able to click and drag it up and to the left to resize the Firefox window. If it's offscreen, you should be able to resize the window in two steps: drag the upper left corner of the window down and to the right, then drag the window back up the screen.

Not sure that's the right answer but please give it a try.

Jscher has offered you the solution that most people use. There are a couple of extensions that will do the same from the context menu - From official Mozilla - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/deskcut/?src=search From outside Mozilla(http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/) but absolutely reliable(I use it) - http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/addons/createshortcut.xpi

If you use Edit > Zoom then you only make the content of webpages smaller or larger and not the dimensions of the Firefox window.

You would have to open the System menu via Alt+Space (Firefox icon on the title bar) to find such a menu item. If you have the menus then it is likely that the Firefox window is maximized like posted above and you need to disable this to make the window resizable.

You can also check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

I couldnt find any symbol at the top or center that had anything about resizing, nor at the bottom bar either, But I was delighted that I could click on and drag the whole thing over and down.... haven't tried moving the symbol yet onto the desktop since I havent gotten to any site but this one yet, but it sounds like that should solve it. Thanks. and thanks to the other folks too, but theirs is a bit more complicated so I hope this works, l am not real good at the computor...
