printing problem
Help please - I'm new to firefox and I'm trying to print a map from Google Maps but the image only covers half the screen and although I've tried to alter settings I can't get away from the half screen.Thinking this might be something to do with Google Maps and not me I tried Mapquest but there the print of the map produced a blank page except for the written stuff beneath the map!
Where am I going wrong please?

Try doing this and let me know if it works.
- In order to check the margins, we need to go to File > Page Setup.
- Once this is done, switch to the Margins & Header/Footer tab.
- Check what's set there under Margins.
The following are the default values for Margins:
Right: 12.7
Top: 12.7
Left: 12.7
Bottom: 12.7
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.
Thanks for the information.I have tried altering the values of the margins and unfortunately it does not solve the problem. The margins alter but the item to be printed still only occupies half (the left side) of the page so when you print the other half of the page is blank. On top of that the item to be printed is at the top of the page so in total only about 25% of the page is being used.
I hope this makes some sort of sense and your further thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Those 12.7 (millimeters) values for margins are applicable to the "A" type paper sizes, not typically used in North America. Letter and legal size paper uses the equivalent .5 setting, which is an "inch" measurement. The paper size that is selected determines how those values are displayed in Firefox prefs, metric or inch.
Can you provide a screenshot of the Print Preview panel with one of those maps you are having a problem with, and also provide the URL.

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.
Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.
Thanks for your continuing help which is much appreciated. Can I just say that I am not in North America, perhaps I should have mentioned that earlier.I am in the UK and also I am not very computer savvy.I struggle with computer language and I am uncertain of how to save a screenshot - what is a screenshot and what do you mean by a URL?
Please excuse my ignorance in these matters.
Cheers.
