Every time i run Firefox it prompts me to grant the extension/add-on installation. Currently I have McAffe ScriptScan for Firefox 15.1.0 & LastPass 3.1.54 add-ons prompting for installation. When I allow the installation of these add-ons it is required that i restart firefox, so when I do, again it will ask me to allow the installation of these add-ons only now the tabs have doubled, if I continue I will be stuck in an infinite loop of this prompts. I have tried resetting add-ons and firefox, deleting profiles creating new profiles even a fresh install of firefox after completely removing it(even the follder on \appdata\), this problem continues. I would really appreciate a solution to this problem, since I love Firefox and this is getting very annoying.

Thank you in advance.

Soluzione scelta

Just posting the solution for reference.

The issue was that the firefox profiles were being created in the Appdata\ folder and somehow this was causing the loop to occur (Don't know the root cause). So, this is what i did:

1. I created a folder named "profiles" in the firefox.exe folder. 2. I edited the target of the firefox shortcut on my desktop to ..../firefox.exe -Profile "profiles/", this tells firefox.exe to create profiles on the profiles folder that we created previously. 3. And it is Done!

Hope this helps those who encounter the same issue as I :).

Have you tried installing one of the Add-ons, restarting Firefox then installing the other, instead of trying to install both at once? If not maybe reset Firefox again and try that; I'm not a developer so I can't say if for sure if the add-ons are not interacting well, but I think it is worth a try.

There is a bug in the current Firefox

Type about:config<Enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

Type dom.indexedDB.enabled and set it to true.

Thank you guys for the answers.

I did try it and i didn't get other results, still stuck in the loop.

I did check that and it was already set to true.

I'm guessing the McAfee add-on is causing this issue but I am not being able to disable/uninstall it since the McAfee is managed by the IT guy at my workplace.

It's not an ideal solution, but you could download the portable version of Firefox and use that. As long as the IT guy doesn't have policies in place to prevent it from running.

Hold on, did you say you were on Firefox 15 ? ! The current version is 35.

IMO, that is a foolish solution.

Anywhere except for the Firefox program files folder would have been a better choice. Too muck risk of losing Profile data or the whole Profile, if something goes wrong with a Firefox update. Along with your entire cache being in that folder - as is normal when the Profile is moved out of the default location, as you will soon find out.

I do Agree, for someone who doesn't want to loose its profile maybe another folder its a better solution, but i do not depend on my profile very much so this did fix the problem and it works for me.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
