Hello Firefox Support,
I have been trying to find some way to prevent this virus creating pop ups and converting pages. I have reset ( I thought) my browser.
This software downloads without prompting from me - I see it in Program Files all the time. Deleting it does not good, nor do my attempts at corrupting it.
Is there a fast, effective way of preventing this virus? I have limited time availability and cannot really afford much to spare battling against net attacks.

Note that not all removal programs detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
