Hi, Firefox stopped working last Friday after upgrading adobe flash. When I try to open firefox I just get a blank screen - If I put in web address in it says it is trying to connect but never does.

Uninstalled firefox and reinstalled - no difference - read on a web site that I should delete the firefox folder after uninstall and also profiles folder. Tried that and re-installed firefox - no improvement. Have considered carrying out system restore - but also using Thunderbird email which is working fine and MS says this may be affected if I carry out system restore - Help

Best regards

Kim Myers

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

When Firefox crashes Crash Reports should be sent to Mozilla. If we can get the Crash Report ID's we might be able to tell you what went wrong and what caused each of those crashes. But with you reinstalling Firefox the Crash Report ID's may be gone.

Doing a system restore now probably won't fix anything, and you will probably lose any Firefox data that was saved in Firefox. The system restore feature in Windows doesn't save or "restore" any data for 4rd party programs the user installed - unless the user purposely included those programs in the Windows "system restore feature, from what I understand. I have never used the Windows system restore feature myself, but many user's have reported issues with Firefox data not getting "restored"

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
