How do we solve crashing Firefox tabs and browser, particularly related to Gmail?
Question: How do we solve crashing Firefox tabs and browser, particularly related to Gmail?
Issue: Each time I load Firefox shortly thereafter my tab with Gmail crashes, as do others that are not taking up much memory thereafter, and the whole browser ends up crashing afterwards.
Note: This appears to be a software issue with the browser (since I'm seeing other threads like this one) and not a hardware issue (have fresh SSD for hard-drive, fresh Windows 10 boot, and extra RAM for a total of 12 gb RAM), but I could be wrong here.
Attempted Software Solutions: -Check off hardware acceleration -Exception for Gmail in AdBlock Plus -Disable AdBlock Plus -about:config → browser.tabs.remote.autostart;true → browser.tabs.remote.autostart;false

Hi Mike, sorry to hear about this problem. Your crash reports have very diverse signatures, so there's no obvious "this is what it is that leaps out at me."
On the Modules tab, I am not sure what InputHost.dll is; it sticks out because it doesn't have a version number, which is strange.
Did this problem just start with your latest Firefox update on the 16th? I wonder whether the program files might be corrupted. I think this is worth a try:
Clean Reinstall
This takes about 5 minutes. It's not about your settings, it's about making sure the program files are clean (no inconsistent or alien code files). As described below, this process does not disturb your existing settings. It's not essential to uninstall Firefox, but you can if you like, saying No to any request about removing personal data.
It only takes a few minutes.
(A) Download a fresh installer for Firefox to a convenient location:
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
(B) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).
If you use Microsoft Office, please change your default browser to Internet Explorer temporarily before the next step.
(C) Using Windows Explorer/My Computer (hold down the Windows key and press E to launch it), right-click > rename the program folder as follows (you might have one or both):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox =to=> C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox =to=> C:\Program Files\OldFirefox
(D) Run the installer you downloaded in step (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.
Any improvement?
Jefferson, thank you for your prompt reply (think you got back in two or three hours!) and pardon the length of time for my reply, didn't quite know how to navigate back here to reply.
To answer your question in short your recommendation did not resolve the issue. I did a clean reinstall and yet the problem remained.
The culprit was not Firefox but Windows 10. I know this because the problem happened with each internet browser. I rolled back the updates to my computer where possible and without those additional updates the computer has had no more memory issues/browser crashes.
So, if you encounter a similar issue like this ahead of time also bear in mind that the issue may not be related to Firefox but to Windows 10 updates that do not jive with the hardware, as apparently was the case with mine.
Thank you for your time, it's much appreciated, Mike
