Auto-fill for id and pass-code asks to save new pass-code when it was not changed, after saving new pass-code it changes to all asterisks and login indicates invalid pass-code and I have to manually type in pass-code. This is only affecting 2 web pages for my online banking(BOA) and online financial service (Ameriprise) all other sites which include other financial sites are not affected. I can duplicate this issue. Action taken to date BOA notified accounts closed and new ones reopened I spent 4 1/2 hours with Ameriprise support investigating with no resolution. I have set exceptions to block these 2 sites from auto-fill. Also tested on chrome with no issues. This also happened on my wife's desktop as well with the same 2 web sites. I have the full set of Norton suite and no issues report. This has also been reported to life lock BOA and Ameriprise, all have tickets and are investigating. Thanks in advance for assistance with this issue.

Based on what you've described and the fact that it happens on a limited number of sites on multiple computers, my guess is that it's an issue with the website specifically.

It's possible that maybe they are intentionally tricking Firefox into saving a fake password to block/discourage you from saving the password in Firefox.

Hi Wes, thanks for the reply, yes that also crossed my mind as well, while working with Ameriprise yesterday that seemed to be the conclusion from their end and I indicated to them that I would not settle to use another browser such as chrome as suggested. I'm inclined to agree with you and hopefully they will correct this issue. Thanks again

id you check the name and password in the Password Manager?

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins and Passwords: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

Some website copy the password to another, hidden, field and modify the password field where you entered the password. Firefox will see this change as an update request.

Hi Cor-el, yes I have checked saved passwords when this occurs and the id is missing with all asterisks in the password field. Thank you for your assistance. I have a strong feeling this will clear up in a few days as these 2 companies continue their investigation but I could be wrong.
