When viewing for example the Guardian international site , there is always a kind of a slideshow in the most important topic. Today for example Biden und a bunch of pictures Trump leaving. Sometimes i like to have a closer look on one of pictures. There is no copy/save image than. I like to have a kind of pause button to interrupt the playing. Im running linux/ubuntu, but on win10 the same. So I use the Print button to make a hardcopy, but this is not very "elegant". Any suggestions ? It's not a kind of blocking a popup.

There are some transparent navigation overlays in front of the actual images that prevent right-click from working. There is an extension which is designed to work around that situation, but I haven't tested it on the Guardian site. If you want to take a look:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/behind/

More generally, another possible workaround is the Media tab of the Page Info dialog. To get there, either:

  • Ctrl+i (for Mac, Command+i)
  • right-click a blank area of the page > View Page Info
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info

When the dialog comes up, click the Media icon at the top to show that panel.

The box of URLs typically is long, so to preview the images, click the first one and use the down arrow to scroll through and view them. When you find the one you want, you can use the Save As button. To view in a tab, you can triple-click the URL (outside the box), Ctrl+c, then paste into the address bar in a new tab.

Thank you very much, jscher2000 ! It is a bit more than I wanted, but you gave me a lot more knowledge. The addon is working, and this is great. But your way to use the Media Button does'nt give me only a fish, but a hook and a rod. Very useful. Best Regards hhgoten aka Waldi
