You can change the position of the tabs, right-click on a toolbar then click on the "Tabs on Top" entry to de-select it.
If you want the add-ons bar to be more like the status bar you can use the Status-4-Evar add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
and the above solution is just a junk reply. where is the old version.
The new Blind-man version of Firefox is a mess. the backdoor to Google are easily seen and documented. (again)
I can't pass my security checks with this one. it totally violates RFC 1918. and he chat help well me the dummy he the expert could not get the issue across to the expert.
This Google Firefox thing is a bit too tight, and will eventually destroy the confidence that we have had with Firefox, up til now.
I could not get the Blind-man version of Firefox to uninstall.
I just downloaded 3.6.17. it installed and runs fine.
As usual the typical self serving software type tell us "To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4,"
So sorry but Blind-man would not uninstall and 3.6.7 went on just fine. Wonder how that happens. The museum can pass its security inspection. (for now)
G mail is now telling me that in order to enable all the features or turn of certain features I need to update to 4.0.1
Beyond funding Firefox, what is the linkage?
Still running Vista. For the last year it's been PC hell with Firefox. Got to the point 2 weeks ago that nothing worked right with Firefox. Lockups, smokescreens were constant, SLOW, etc. It was even causing similar problems with Windows Mail.
Uninstalled it via the control panel and downloaded the SeaMonkey browser. The improvement was immediate. It was like night & day. 20 times faster, no lockups, no problems. Took a few days to customize and get used to, and it's the best browser I've ever used (I am a retired PC Engineer). Try it, you'll like it.
Also now using CCleaner (does a great job and also safely scoops the registry), and Auslogics defragger (Many times Better than windows).
