I just tried to update to Firefox 8 and was prompted to restart my computer. Upon restarting it and trying to run Firefox, i kept getting a message that would ask me to restart my computer. I did this several times and kept getting the same message.

I found somewhere on the web that the problem could be caused by some windows update requiring the reboot of the PC. When you press the reboot from that firefox prompt, the win update isn't done, so it remains waiting and firefox will keep asking you to reboot. Just do all windows updates and then reboot/shutdown normally, so that windows gets all those sorted. After that, install firefox again and it should be ok. Mine is and I was having the same problem. Found out I had 10 windows updates requiring a system shutdown. Did those, then installed FF8 and everything is back to normal.

Hi, Friend computer called me SOS for same problem.

100% not a hardware problem, not a windows space/security/rights problem.

WinXP Pro 32Bit SP3 English, all updates made, multiple users on the computer. Java 7 update 1, latest adobe Flash.

Microsoft essential security (if I can call it an antivirus :-D) updated.

FF8 (he=Hebrew) downloaded from mozilla's official FTP.

FF8 (he=Hebrew) fresh and first FF installation with: AdBlockPlus, FlagFox, FoxLingo, FoxTab, Image Zoom.

All was working fine for few days (was very hard to guide them to move from IE to FF) since last night (no change was made) that message keep poping in local language (he=Hebrew): נדרשת הפעלה מחדש למחשב כדי להשלים שדרוג גרסה של firefox

all restarts same problem, even for reinstall pop same message.

nothing found at the web to solve it out.

did same at several computers at work but that problem did not happen at them.

developers, maybe there is a switch file or a tag somewhere just need to move/change/delete.

Please help me help him, Thank you!

i had the same problem... i guess it's a problem if you install firefox when you don't have full admin rights... but just a guess... my first installation was without admin rights and i had the same behavoir...

i fixed it like this:

-login as admin -rename the firefox folder in programms -reinstall firefox -logout and login to your normal user -start firefox and all is fine...
