Suddenly, my tabs won't close when I click the close (X) button? Now I have about30 tabs! Help!

For instance, I have three tabs open: yahoo, BofA, and CalJobs. I finished working with BofA banking account, but when I click the x to close that page, it doesn't close. Same with Cal\Jobs. None of my tabbed pages will close. Please help!
