Using Firefox 13.0 and Windows 7 ( I think is 64-bit). Had flashplayer crashes, when Adobe flashplayer upgraded, so downloaded older version to install, but don't know whether to use 32-bit or 64-bit. Can someone help me?

Hey,

when you have a 64 bit processor (as you said you have), please download and indtall the 64 bit version.

edit by a moderator - Firefox is a 32-bit application, you need the 32-bit version of Flash for Firefox, regardless of whether the OS is 64-bit.

In ordinary circumstances this is easily resolved. If you navigate to the Adobe site using the browser that you wish to install Firefox on it auto detects the browser type and provides the correct download.

If you have 64 bit OS and 64bit Internet Explorer, then as Tobbi says you will need the 64 bit FlashPlayer.

However the standard Firefox Browsers for Windows are 32 bit as you say in the question title.

You will therefore need both versions a 64 bit version for Windows IE and a 32bit version for Firefox. In any event separate flash Software is required for the two browsers.

Whilst installing FlashPlayer be aware that the current version is version 11.3 but that some users are finding problems, sometimes this is resolved by installing an older version of Flash Player, either Version 10.3, which is fully secure or Version 11.2 which has more features but is less secure.

We have some Knowledge Base articles on the subject of Flash Player and are trying to keep them updated as this situation evolves:

N.B. AFAIK these present problems are due to a security change relating to Windows, and so do not affect Linux or Mac users.
