unable to export bookmarks
running Firefox 14.0.1
My FF became infected with the ClaroSearch toolbar & must be erased & reinstalled.
There is no option to export bookmarks anywhere: I've checked all tabs all bookmarks. This is a big oversight on the part of the developers. Every program should have the ability somewhere to save a copy of user data. There is no working data on the web about FF bookmarks backup

your reply just references the standard info on the subject which assumes I have an "Export bookmark" menu item. I don't have that hence my problem with exporting bookmarks: there is no export bookmark option.
I cannot just used the saved profiles as my FF is infected with the Claro-search browser hijacker
You did not read the articles under "Also see..." to learn how to copy your entire profile?
You can also try creating a new profile using the Reset feature, then carefully copy files from your old profile
- Reset --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems (read this very carefully)
- Transfer from your old profile --> see link under "Also see..." in my first post.
You can also scan for malware to try to rid your system of clarosearch by using several malware scanners and/or visiting a site that specializes in malware removal

Can you open the Bookmarks Manager (Library)?
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) there is a toolbar with the Back and Forward button and three other buttons (Organize,Views,Import & Backup).
- The first (gear) button is the Organize button with basic edit menu items for bookmarks
- The second button is the Views button that allows to change the sort order for viewing purposes (doesn't sort permanently).
- The third (star) button is the Import & Backup button that allows to backup and restore a JSON backup and import and export an HTML backup and import bookmarks from other browsers.
Hover each button to see the tooltip or click each of them to see what they do.
Never saw any star button. I looked at all the menus for bookmarks but it wasn't there. Finally I paid Norton tech support and they found it under some weird sub-menu. It wasn't associated with any bookmark or export function but was under some other category like RSSS feed. What is RSS feed and why is it so critical while bookmarks are not?
Went to use InterNet Explorer 9 instead as maybe they'll not hide critical controls.
Can you attach a screenshot of the Bookmarks Manager window and maybe also of the window with those RSS links?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
