Can't download MP4 files to PC.

I am trying to download MP4 formatted files to my PC from a website. The Firefox download looks like it has started, however, the progress of the download shows 0% and 0 MB being loaded and will sit there for hours and doesn't download anything. A file is created in the folder but has 0 KB. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the PC that is preventing the download to work? I know an MP4 file is normally for use on a mobile phone but I still thought it can be downloaded to a PC's hard drive.
