Went to sync my new phone and my profile name is incorrect by one letter. Also says my acct name and pass are incorrect when I attempt to log in as usual. HELP
When attempting to sync my new android phone (galaxy S4 to galaxy S5), my firefox profile name on firefox sync is incorrect by one letter. Instead of kokochako it reads kokocako. Im concerned because my name and password are the same ones i use to log in on my laptop and my previous smartphones. I am unable to sync my acct or make any changes to my profile name. I hit forgot password to reset, but since the email is incorrect Im not getting an email to change it. I havent changed my name ever and my password hasnt been changed in at least 6 months. It keeps saying name and pass are incorrect. Has my acct been hacked or compromised? All my info is still working on my laptop, just under the wrong email address, im scared...

To answer: I'm worried because I can log on using my laptop (obviously my correct profile and password), but when i click on sync the name next to the profile icon is incorrect. On your labtop what version of Firefox are you running? Also on your labtop when the wrong name appears where are you seeing this name, can you please attach a screenshot? How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
To answer your question about identity or keystrokes, you can run a malware scan to check your computer for malware. As for the identity, the user with the email address that shows up as incorrect may be getting your confirmation email to reset your password and may be confused (assuming the name is the email that is not showing correctly)
To answer your question how sync works when the on the name next to the profile icon is incorrect. Can you also provide a screenshot of this? Is this an email? I am not sure what menu you are referring to.
To correct this you can create a copy of the profile on the laptop Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles disconnect the incorrect account, and add the correct account and password.
How:
- You need to disconnect the incorrect account name.
- Open Firefox with the profile manager to make sure there is not more than one profile Using Multiple Profiles
- If not disconnect the account in the Preferences/Options > Sync Menu
- Make a copy of the profile folder with the link above, or see below
- Attach the correct account name and sync the devices or if that account does not work the profile data will be in the profile folder. Creating a new account with this profile will keep you up to date.

HI kokochako808, Thank you for your question. I understand that there appear to be two accounts or the same account with the wrong spelling of the name.
May I confirm with you that the new version of sync is being used for both devices? If the Android device has "Firefox Sync (deprecated)" under the list of accounts on the device then it will be on the previous sync. If it does not then it is on the current sync. As for the desktop account, if it has worked in the past and is still working, it is possible to still be on the old sync. If it on the new sync please check the spam folder of the email that the account is signed up with.

However before you make any changes please keep a copy of the profile you would like to keep to make sure you have a local backup after any changes are made. Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

Thank you for responding. :) While Im sure these suggestions are very helpful once I can get in, I am unable to do anything but wipe my acct and restart firefox on my computer. My PROFILE name for my acct (that Ive had for at least 5 years) is wrong. I am unable to log in at all from any device. I am able to log in on my laptop because firefox is my default browser and my password was saved long ago. I am worried because I can log on using my laptop (obviously my correct profile and password), but when i click on sync the name next to the profile icon is incorrect. How does that work? Is my acct hacked and all my keystrokes being logged for identity theft or something. Im not sure how my 3 previous phones were able to sync using the correct name and password but now that I have a new phone the name is somehow changed and unable to be corrected. I cant change anything via the "sending email to change password" since the email on my profile is incorrect. In fact it keeps saying "incorrect name and or password" when I try. How could it be changed by one letter without me changing it? Id just like to go back to my ACTUAL username and password so I can use my phone with my firefox browser and info...HOW?
