Yesterday I had many tabs open. I keep many tabs open as a norm and use the restore previous session button with no problems. When I opened FF today there was no restore button!! I checked my history and it was blank!! Then I checked my settings and the clear when closes box was checked!! I must have done that accidentally while clearing cookies

Is there any way to recover this valuable (to me) information?

Thx, S

If you use the Time Machine on your Mac then you can see if you can restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

I do not have Time machine activated on my Mac. I found some bookmark files but nothing that was my previous history or any last session saves.

Is there anywhere that FF would save the info it clears on shutdown when the box to do that is checked?

Firefox keeps 10 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder in the Firefox profile folder, but there aren't any backups of the sessionstore.js file that stored the data of the currently open tabs.

The bookmarks and history are stored in the places.sqlite database file.
