Just updated to latest version and every time I go to the google home page, I get some weird 'too much recursion' popup error message.
What is recursion and why is there too much of it? I don't know what this is and I have to click "ok" about six dozen times before I can access anything. PLEASE can you tell me what the hell this is and how I can get rid of it? It started the instant I restarted Firefox after the latest upgrade (35).

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
You have a number of add-ons that could block some Google content, including Ghostery, Adblock Plus, and maybe Avast Online Security. In case one of your extensions is involved in this problem, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?
By the way, to start Firefox with a blank page, you can do the following instead of using the normal icon:
In the search box on the Windows Start menu, type or paste:
firefox.exe "about:blank"
and then press Enter.
