A bookmark gets framed with www...com How do I turn that off?

I have entries in the ...\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. When I use these names in my URL, Firefox adds the www..... com framing. I don't want it to do that!

hi Intellitech, you could try this: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.fixup.alternate.enabled. double-click it and change its value to false.

Can you give a clear example about what you are doing (i.e. exact URL of the bookmark and with what URL you end up in the location)?

If you open a bookmarked page the Firefox will try to open that URL. If you manually create a bookmark that needs a fix up to be able to connect to that website (i.e. the initial DNS look up fails maybe because you block it) then Firefox will do this fix up.
