Whenever I open firefox after exiting I get a mystery download called download.exe and I can't seem to work out why or where it's coming from, I ran a virus scan and haven't picked anything up.

Thank you so much for including the screenshot. I have looked into this and it appears that diriginal. info is malicious software.

I strongly recommend reading and following this and this

As part of these process you may need to remove some browser extensions that you may have inadvertently installed. Unless they came with the machine or your downloaded them from a trusted source, you will find this useful in removing extensions.
