How can I save a password when no :remember password" is available?

My wife has to enter her Firefox Thunderbird password each time she checks her mail. She does not get a window that allows her to remember her password when it is entered. Will you tell me how I can save her password for her? I am the administrator for the account. Thanks for your help. I have been unable to use the web instructions to follow the instructions given.

When you get the password prompt pop-up, look for a check box at the bottom of the pop-up. Does that ring a bell?

Follow this article to see if a password is already saved in Thunderbird. If so remove it. There is also an image of the check box christ1 mentions. https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=19006

Both responders gave me a good answer. The second one had greater depth of information. I was getting Password Manager and Master Password confused in my mind. Thanks to both for a job well done.
