In the new versions of Mozilla Firefox, the historial is automatically deleted after how much time? And, in the awesome bar, the suggests are related to the last searches, or can be related at searches one year late? Thank you!

To clarify, that was for suggestions from your browsing history. For suggestions from search history I don't know how the order is determined.

Do you think your Firefox is remembering too much or too little??

Firefox can keep history for a very long time, but this varies from system to system. Generally speaking, Firefox checks your disk space memory and CPU and sets a maximum number of pages to remember. When that size is reached, Firefox trims out some old history selectively, not using a strict date cut-off. I can't remember whether there is a help article on this, but the developer site has a page on it:

Thank you! And the results in the awesome bar are only recent search or it can be very old search?

The Awesomebar can show suggestions from:

  • Any bookmark
  • Any visited page (full URL)
  • Any visited site (base address)
  • (optional) Your default search engine

For searches that are directed to a search engine, these used to show up only as the full URL rather than as search history. Has that changed? Do you see queries with a little clock face next to them below the Awesomebar, the way you do below the search bar? (I have search history turned off so I might be behind the times.)

A few more notes on search history: search history is stored with form entry history separate from your browsing history. I don't think Firefox ever deletes search and form history. If you want to see the accumulated search and form history and remove selected items, you can use this extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/

There are some reviews complaining that its feature to save work-in-progress on web forms doesn't work as well as an older extension, but I think the view/delete feature still works fine.

Very kind! thank you. Mi question exactly is this: if appear a suggestion in the mozilla awesome bar, it's posible that is a very old search, or almost sure is a recent search? Isn't it based on the recency of searches?

(FOR SUGGESTIONS FROM YOUR BROWSING HISTORY)

The suggestions at the top of the list are based on several things, but mainly:

  • how frequently do you visit that site?
  • how recently did you visit that site?

Mozilla calls it "frecency" and it considers things such as whether you typed the site into the address bar before or just followed a link. So in short, it's not strictly based on newer vs. older, it's trying to show what you are most likely to be looking for.
