Tbird will not accept .mac account password; Error message reads "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong." Upload of error message image unsuccessful. non-Apple eMail accounts work OK; account works OK with Apple Mail; Apple troubleshooting deleted account & new account setup unsuccessful; set up new account in completely new admin account unsuccessful; this problem has presented occasionally with Tbird updates SO this is not a problem when using Apple Mail or with non-apple eMail accounts. Problem presents on both iMac & Mac Book Air; running OS 10.11.03, Tbird 38.06.0..

Change your password to 8 or less characters with only numbers and letters and see if that helps. Some mail servers limit the length and content of mail passwords. They also do not apply the same rules to email clients as they apply to their web mail (outlook.com)
