Hello,

My old HD crashed and I setup a new computer. I was able to grab my old HD and copy over my old firefox profile. On my new computer I installed firefox. On the new computer, the profile name has changed so I copied/replaced all the contents from my old profile to the new one. When I old firefox, my old profile content doesn't show up (eg bookmarks, pw's..) It basically loads the new profile content. I am going from Win 7 to Win 8.1 but I don't think that would cause this.

Any suggestions?

thanks

You need to copy the profiles.ini file as well because this file registers the profiles and Firefox wo'nt find the profile if it isn't present in this file. You can either edit the profiles.ini file or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and click "Choose Folder" and browse to this copied profile to make Firefox recognize and use it.

You should find the profiles.ini file in this hidden location:

  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
    *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
